About GALs
Gilroy Assistance League is a non-profit corporation of 35 active members providing grants to local health and recreation programs, visual and performing arts, and numerous other youth-oriented projects in our local Gilroy community.
Our group began in 1959 with 15 women as a Chapter of Children's Home Society involved in adoptive services. In 1984, we became Gilroy Assistance League, or GALs, and decided to concentrate all our fundraising efforts to our community. We are still a small group of women focused on local causes and needs which we feel are important.
We also have a very important associate membership who pay dues and support our many endeavors.
Grant requests are invited annually in the form of a simple letter or presentation. The entire membership reviews the requests privately and votes on the grant recipients.
